The School That
Cannot Be Closed.
We're building an AI-powered, Afghan volunteer-guided platform to deliver a complete Grade 7–12 curriculum in Pashto and Dari — available online, offline, and self-paced — for every Afghan student who deserves to learn.
Why This Exists
Education Is a Right. Not a Privilege.
On 15 August 2021, the Taliban seized power and immediately began dismantling two decades of educational progress. Within weeks, every secondary school for Afghan girls was ordered closed — Grade 7 and above, gone by decree.
Today, Afghanistan is the only country in the world where secondary and higher education is strictly forbidden to girls and women. Grade 6 marks the end of formal schooling for millions of Afghan girls — not because of capacity, not because of talent, but because of law.
Wakhan Academy is building the school that cannot be shuttered. An open, digital, offline-capable institution in their own languages, beyond the reach of any decree.

The Approach
AI-Empowered. Human-Verified. Student-First.
AI Translates & Generates
Frontier large language models process verified educational source material, translating and culturally adapting it into Pashto and Dari at scale. AI also generates exercises, summaries, and assessments tailored to each grade level.
OpenAI · Anthropic · Google
Afghan Volunteers Review & Enrich
Afghan educators, subject-matter experts, and diaspora volunteers review every unit of content — correcting nuance, adding local context, verifying academic accuracy, and ensuring the material is culturally sound.
Teachers · Volunteers
Students Learn — Anywhere
The verified curriculum is delivered through an intuitive interface that works fully offline. Students self-pace through lessons, complete exercises, and track progress on any device — no internet required.
